Carla a 62-year-old woman from Amsterdam converts to Islam and marries Fouad, a 33-year-old Libyan. With her typical Amsterdam no-nonsense attitude Carla copes with the tension that prevails around Islam and Muslims in her country. This project was one of the four winners of the Vrij Nederland photo story. Along side the the photo project I made a documentary film about their lives. The film was selected by Dokfest Munchen and premiered at Movies that Matter where it was nominated for the Dutch Doc Award. |
